J.R.R.Tolkien wrote extensively about the poeple and lives of middle earth. Many of the poems in this selection from the Lord of the Rings, date back to previous eras. People such as Tinuviel (Luthien) and Gil Galad were figures from the ancient days and Tolkien wrote beautiful stories about these characters in “The Silmarillion”. This is one of the impressive features of The Lord of The Rings – it gives us a feeling it is based on the whole history of an imagined place.
